E! Entertainment Television has ordered a fifth season of the reality series The Simple Life, E! Networks president and CEO Ted Harbert announced at the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday.

But this time, stars and best friends-turned-archenemies Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie might not be filmed separately, as they were for season four, The Simple Life: ‘Til Death Do Us Part.

“I don’t have any control over whether they’ll be friends by next season,” Harbert tells PEOPLE. “We need to talk about the best thing to do for the show, and I’m not sure shooting them separately again is the best thing for the show.”

On the most recent season, Hilton, 25, and Richie, 24, were shown trying to run the households of regular families – but the two did not share any screen time.

Still, the show was a hit for E! – its June 6 premiere drew triple the cable net’s average viewers. “We pulled off a difficult thing this year, but frankly we got away with it,” says Harbert. “We can’t do that again.”

And hopefully, when the feuding heiresses are forced to interact, sparks will fly, says an insider. “They want to give the viewers what they want, and what the viewers want is to see Paris and Nicole together, fighting,” says the source.

Paris always seems to refer to it as “her show” and honestly, if Nicole wasn’t a part of “her show” I wouldn’t waste the time to watch it. Nicole is what makes the show funny and entertaining. Although both girls are beautiful, Paris’ arrogance deems her quite unattractive in alot of ways to most people. Nicole is losing weight, but I’d have to disagree that it is because of depression over the feud with Paris. Girls are always wanting to be thinner, and maybe that was Nicole’s goal. I think since losing the weight she looks completely different…and I do think she was gorgeous before the weight loss, but I now see alot of class instilled in her. Instead of being “hot”, the word for Nicole now would be “elegant” or “beautiful”…while Paris portrays herself as an arrogant slut…who rapidly loses fans all on her own. I mean…c’mon, who has to tell people that they’re an icon?! Paris compared herself to Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana…Paris, you definitely do NOT fit in the same category as those women.

i think nicole is just jealous of paris , and thats what broke them apart, also nicole seems really fake on the simple life like shes only doing things for shock value, and the only reason why nicole is bad and shit . is because she knos that paris is known as the sweet party-goer and nicole knos that she can never be as sweet as paris, paris has already set that , so nicole has no choice but to bounce off that and be the opposite if she wants attention and she clearly wants attention.
