Paris Hilton receives humanitarian award
She is better known for her posh lifestyle and drug troubles but reality TV star Paris Hilton has been honoured for her philanthropic works.
The 30-year-old hotel heiress was presented with the award by the Starlight Children’s Foundation along with her sister Nicky and mother Kathy.
“Such a beautiful evening tonight, accepting my award for the humanitarian work I do with the children of the Starlight Foundation. Such a heartwarming night listening to all the parents’ speeches. I was so touched that I cried,” Paris wrote on a website.
“These families and their children go through so much and my heart and prayers are with them. It’s such an amazing feeling to give back and make a difference in someone’s life. I am so honoured to be apart of such an amazing cause,” she added.
The Hiltons received their Heart of Gold trophies after a silent auction and a cocktail dinner at the Century Plaza Hyatt Hotel in Los Angeles.
The millionaire reality TV socialite also took part on the charity run organised by Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie and her actor husband Josh Duhamel to raise funds for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.
