Paris Hilton has set herself a baby deadline: She wants to start a family with boyfriend Benji Madden in 2009. Paris has been dating the Good Charlotte rocker for three months, but already has marriage and babies on her mind.

And although she insists she is not currently pregnant, Paris admits she hopes to be with child in 12 months’ time. Paris said “I do want a baby. Pretty soon. Not yet because I’m so busy, but next year.”

Hilton’s close friend and “Simple Life” co-star Nicole Richie gave birth to her first child, with Benji’s twin brother, Joel, in January.

Paris Hilton jumped at the chance to make a fresh start with US talk-show host David Letterman. Paris was humiliated when the late-night TV presenter grilled her about her prison stint during an infamous interview after she was released last year, prompting Hilton’s vow never to return to the show.

But Letterman’s proceeding public apology prompted the heiress to make amends, first returning as a guest on the show in February to promote a new film, before making yet another reprise on Wednesday evening.

Letterman introduced Paris as: “A star of television and film, a recording artist, a best-selling author and an entrepreneur.” Hilton strut onto the set with a sneer, as Letterman offered further apology for his previous behaviour and politely asked the star what she would like to discuss.

Paris quickly began pitching a line of hair extensions, clothing for her “model” dogs, her own brand of canned Italian champagne and an upcoming reality show, titled ‘Paris Hilton’s My New BFF (Best Friend Forever)’.

Letterman added: “We went through some bad times when she hated me because I taunted her about being in prison. I made unpleasant remarks about the experience and she didn’t want to talk about it and somehow that’s all I wanted to talk about. And she swore she would never come back. Well by gosh, she’s big enough to put that behind her. She came back a few months ago. I’m delighted Paris is here, and I want to tell you something: when she was angry and vowed never to come back, it probably was my darkest hour.”

And Hilton seems to have put any bad blood harboured against the host behind her, adding: “It’s good to be back. You’re my favourite.”

Paris Hilton is “wife material” according to her boyfriend, Good Charlotte guitarist, Benji Madden. The axeman said that although they have only been dating a few months, he could see a future with the celebutante.

“I always knew that she was, like, wife material, or serious girlfriend material” Madden said.

But does that mean the two will be engaged before the year is out? “I’m not gonna bet against you on that,” Madden said when Michael Yo asked the question. “I’m very, very happy right now.”

“Madden also said his heart burned for the heiress long before the tabloids started reporting on their relationship. “We were in love before anyone even knew we were together,” he said.

And though he is smitten with the blonde, he said sometimes he has to hold back on expressing his feelings because of the Good Charlotte fans. “In my relationship, you just wanna get on top of a mountain and go I’m in lovvveee!’ cos your fans would probably make fun of you,” Madden laughed.
