Paris Jail Sentence Reduced

Paris Hilton will be jailed for about 23 days of a 45-day sentence for violating probation and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities decided after reviewing her case. The shorter sentence reflects an expectation that Hilton behaves behind bars.

“All inmates get credit for good behavior,” Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Thursday. “The inmate knows that if they behave and follow the rules, that’s something to shoot for.” She will be held in a “special needs housing unit” at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Whitmore said. Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.

The 26-year-old socialite could have a cellmate. Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.

Hilton was sentenced to jail earlier this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5. She initially called the sentence unfair, and lawyers representing her in the probation hearing said they will appeal the sentence.

It was unclear whether she intends to move forward with the appeal. Last week, Hilton said in a statement released by her new attorney that she was “ready to face the consequences of violating probation.”

I don’t know how long the sentence for her crime is (if it wouldn’t have been Paris), but I’m damn sure it’s a lot longer than 45 days, since she already was on probation. No one should have priviligies when it comes to serving time, NO ONE. What an incredibly weak system. Fucking shitty USA.

GOOD!!! It’s about time these celebrities get held accountable for breaking the law. Tired of seeing people with money get off free while others have to do time for the same crime. Personally, I still think she should serve the same amount of time as a regular no celebrity person would have to do…

i dont think paris should go to jail. i think she deserves another chance. next time there will be no excuses. everyones gotta be so hard on her to prove a point because she’s a celeb.

I am happy she had to go to jail. I am sure she will not learn her lesson though.

  5. Paris Hilton’s parents should be ashamed of the child they raised. Someone who thinks so long as they have money they are untouchable. She’ll be getting plenty touched now that she’s back in jail…justice is served!
